The Figurado of Rosa Ramalho in the Collection of Juan Rodriguez
Archive
This exhibition is the result of a great friendship formed in the late 1960s between Juan Rodriguez and Rosa Ramalho, whom he affectionately called Rosinha.
Juan Rodriguez, noticing the creativity of this woman from Minho, and being a sculptor with a passion for Greek mythology, requested that she create pieces based on his designs, some of which were completely unknown to the general public. This collaboration brought together the imagination of both artists united in their love for art and clay.
The exhibition highlights the size of the pieces, transforming the figurado from a children's toy into objects of worship, appreciated by an adult and urban audience.
The collection of Juan Yebra Pimentel Rodriguez, which is displayed by the Pottery Museum in the room dedicated to the figurado, is an exceptional collection, a treasure that has been well kept until today, now made available for the public to admire.
