Enclaves by João Carqueijeiro

“The title Enclaves 2014 for this exhibition seems justified by the suggestion of a certain apparent eclecticism, which is nothing more than the result of years of experimentation, research, and maturity in the extraordinary relationship that João Carqueijeiro has with the subjects and materials he masterfully dominates. From this apparent eclecticism, I would say that enclaves result within a more familiar and emblematic territory [the mixtures of pastes and the inclusion of cast slate], whose banner is always recognizable as that of the author exhibiting here."
