  • This tradition predates recorded history, when the first artisans began molding clay, without history recording the names of the men and women who, expressing traditions and symbolic representations, cemented the social memory and cultural identity of the pottery region of Barcelos.

  • Before Rocha Peixoto's study on the potteries of Prado (1903), "the information available on the subject could easily fit on a fingernail," says Lapa Carneiro. Fortunately, times changed, other desires prevailed, and the anonymous doll makers became generations of potters entitled to signature and public recognition.

  • This is the case of the Côta Generation, whose graffiti art is presented in this exhibition. A history that dates back to the 19th century, and which we highlight in this second exhibition of the Exhibition Cycle dedicated to the most charismatic families of Barcelos figurative crafts.
