Approaches by Joaquim Esteves

Joaquim Esteves is a very peculiar case in the world of the Barcelos potters. Son of Manuel Esteves and Rosa Macedo, he was born in Galegos (Santa Maria), Barcelos, on the 13th of December 1957, and had a professional career that led him to the status and recognition of a great caricaturist.

His story began much like many other boys born in a land of potters, modelling figurines and helping his parents in his free time from school, filling moulds in their small family business.

Craftsman, ceramist, potter, artist; whatever the perspective of those who analyze and catalogue the work of Joaquim Esteves, what this exhibition shows is the result of his creativity.
