A Intemporalidade da Essência e da Forma de Francisco Simões
Archive
This exhibition takes us into a universe of representation where the female figure is a constant and structuring presence. It is difficult to address the work of Francisco Simões without considering the centrality of the feminine, whether in sculpture, drawing, painting, or ceramics.
The artist constructs a unique visual language, rooted in continuous reflection on the condition of being and the configuration of space. This is where women emerge not only as a subject, but as the basis for a poetics that essentially seeks the essence of form. In his approach to the female body, there is a clear intention to go beyond the visible surface. Through silhouette, gesture, and posture, the artist seeks to capture a timeless dimension where each curve and volume transcends physicality and acquires a symbolic and eternal value. His artistic career proposes an aesthetic reflection on beauty, seen as a manifestation of what remains and what is absolute within the ephemeral.
Ceramics, which are less frequently mentioned in critical discourse regarding Simões, occupy a prominent place in this exhibition. This practice, which requires precise technical mastery and an intimate relationship with the material, highlights his ability to engage in dialogue with different artistic traditions, without ever abandoning a personal and coherent vision.
