The Pottery Museum spans over an area of about 2.260 sq. m. It houses a collection of over 9000 pieces predominantly from the municipality of Barcelos, but also from other regions of Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. The Pottery Museum’s collection is mainly ethnographic and representative of the pottery production activity. Moreover, the museum has also pieces of faience, ceramic glazed tiles, archaeological ceramic, and some work instruments. The Portuguese pottery collection is divided in black pottery, mate red pottery, glazed red pottery and figurines. It is organized by geographical areas, production centres and typologies of shapes.
